Logitech K400 Plus

Logitech K400 Plus Review

The Logitech K400 Plus is a wireless keyboard. Let’s start with the usual unboxing.

The box contains the touchscreen keyboard, the Unifying receiver, 2 AA batteries, and the user manual. The Logitech K400 Plus is a wireless keyboard that is distinguished by the existence of the touchpad on the right side of the keyboard. It measures 139.9mm x 354.3mm x 23.5mm (L x W x H) and weighs 380g with batteries.

The touchpad on the left side of the keyboard measures 76mm x 47mm. This 3.5-inch touchpad integrated directly into the keyboard will allow you to use a single control device in the remote operation of your computer. This will save you the hassle of having a separate keyboard and mouse and enjoy a compact and well-designed device. You can use the Options software for quick configuration of the touchpad keys.

Keys

The keyboard keys are also quiet enough for a serene and user-friendly office experience. The K400 Plus is ultra-thin and has no feet to tilt it. The material used is a fairly thick and strong granulated plastic. We note nevertheless a small impression of “cheap” at the level of the quality of the plastic. But that in no way detracts from the merits of this keyboard: functional, practical, and pleasant to use.

Below the keyboard, you will have the 4 pads which allow the keyboard to adhere well to more or less smooth support (table, desk, etc.). On the back of the keyboard, you can find the location of the 2 AA batteries.

Direction arrows indicate the direction in which to slide the cover to remove the batteries in case of replacement. There is a small place where the batteries are located to store the Unifying receiver. It is better to store it away when it is not in use because it is very small and risks being lost quite easily. As for the colors available, the K400 Plus keyboard can be ordered in black or white.

Multimedia

This wireless keyboard was designed to make your life easier. It can control and remote your media from your TV when it is connected to your computer. You will no longer need to move to your PC to launch your favorite clips or songs. So you can fully enjoy and control your entertainment from your sofa or bed. The range of your K400 plus device is 10 meters or 33 feet.

This is twice the distance supported on some wireless keyboards such as the Bluestork. This is a fairly comfortable distance allowing you to browse the Internet, make calls or play remotely with reliability. With this keyboard, you will have at your fingertips buttons to manage the volume and arrow keys allowing you to browse your media.

Other shortcut buttons for Windows or Android are also available. These keys can be used without additional configuration. On Windows, you can use the F4 to F12 keys to launch and manage your music (media player or music application depending on the Windows version), switch the video output from the computer to the TV, etc. On Android, you can use the F1 to F3 keys to act as the 3 buttons we usually find on Android devices: home, back, and toggle between open applications.

The primary objective of connecting the computer to the television is to be able to watch your multimedia files, your favorite series, etc. You can therefore install applications such as Kodi to make your computer a real media center. All you have to do is rest well on your sofa or bed during your multimedia sessions.

The whole family can benefit from it. To activate your keyboard, simply plug the Unifying receiver into a USB port and you’re ready to go. You can then directly use your K400 Plus keyboard. You can also connect up to 6 Logitech devices to the same Unifying receiver.

This is very handy if you have other Logitech wireless devices. By the way, if you want a wireless gaming mouse, you can opt for the Logitech G903 LIGHTSPEED Mouse. If you are more of a fan of a wired gaming mouse, you can go for the Logitech G502 HERO Gamer Wired Mouse. To manage this device, you can download the Unifying Software from the Logitech site. The receiver operates at 2.4 GHz.

Autonomy

In terms of autonomy, AA batteries have an autonomy of 18 months for average use of 2 hours per day. You can extend this battery life by turning off the K400 Plus keypad when it is not in use. You can use the keyboard ON / OFF switch for this purpose.

Compatibility

Regarding compatibility, the K400 Plus runs on Windows 7 or later, Android 5.0 or later as well as Chrome OS. The K400 Plus keyboard is even recognized on a PS4 console and an IPTV box. It should be noted however that on PS4, the keyboard is recognized without the touchpad.

The switches used on the K400 Plus are flat membrane switches. They are quite wide, but more or less hard to press. The enter key is also too small for our taste. It’s a bit laborious to find it in use blindly. The keys are nevertheless durable because each of them supports 5 million keystrokes.

Logitech Options

For easier and more extensive configuration, you can download the Logitech Options software from the manufacturer’s website. It allows, among other things, to directly detect paired Logitech peripherals and to configure the multimedia buttons present on the K400 Plus.

This software allows you to modify the sensitivity of the touchpad and configure the multi-finger functions (scrolling, zoom, etc.). At the Logitech Options level, you can also activate a notification so that you are alerted when the battery life level is low enough.

One of the negative points noted on this keyboard is the fact that there is no indication when the capital letter is activated.
